There are trains from Reading to Mortimer station which is the closest station to Wokefield Park and hence a much cheaper taxi fare. Please be aware that there are only 2 trains per hour from Reading to Mortimer. www.nationalrail.co.uk

Tom Northwood: Planning on arriving at Mortimer station Thursday morning at 9:16 am from a connecting train from Paddington. A lift would be greatly appreciated if still available.
Martin von Weissenberg: Heimo Laukkanen and I plan to take the same train, the 8:30 from Paddington arriving at Mortimer at 9:16. We would also appreciate a lift or a taxi although we're not averse to walking. :)
Saffron: Hi Martin & Heimo thanks for letting us know. There will be someone to pick you both & Tom up at 9:16 tomorrow. Thanks Saffron 07818 406 386

Is anybody planning to travel from Heathrow to Wokefield on the morning of Thursday 16th? I would be interested to get in contact to explore if we can share taxi costs. Erwin

I will arrive at London Gatwick the 15th around 19:40. What are the options to reach Wokefield Park?

Dave Snowden: Direct trains at three minutes past the hour to Reading, then Taxi from there or wait around at Reading station for connection to Mortimer
Luca Minudel: If I remember right taxi drivers do not accept credit cards. Any idea how much cash more or less I will need from Reading station to Wokefield Park?
Saffron: Hi Luca taxis do take credit cards but will charge you an extra £5 fee often. It should cost £15-20 from Reading to Wokefield. You might want to share with someone else or catch a train to Mortimer station where Dave or someone else can pick you up i... [read more]

Rather than taking a pre-booked car (taxi) you can catch a bus from Heathrow to Reading train station and take a taxi from there. The buses generally leave every 20 mins and cost £23 for a period return (£14 single) http://www.railair.com/timetables_monfri.php

Richard Turner: I'm going to try this. I get in to Terminal 1 from US at 0655. Figure I'll try to catch the 0740 or 0800 bus and take a cab from the Reading station. I'm assuming there is a taxi rank there. Be happy to share a cab with anyone...
Saffron: Yes there is a taxi rank at the station

Keith Braithwaite posted Gender Balance at CALM?

One of the things that first-time attendees at mainstream Agile conferences sometimes comment upon is the relatively high proportion of women attending and presenting at them compared to other IT industry conferences. That's beneficial in all sorts of ways. Consider this, for example: http://hbr.org/2011/06/defend-your-research-what-makes-a-team-smarter-more-women/ar/1 What is it about CALM, which is at least in part an Agile conference, that the... Steve Freeman: It turns out that there are a couple, but your point stands.
Saffron: I was attendee #6 after the faculty and am female. I count at least 3 others, there may be more with androgynous names. Sadly I find there are less woman at European Agile events than in the US (where this article came from)
